We've had them in the shop for about a month now, and can confidently say that any bike sporting the Bosch drive system provides an extraordinarily sophisticated ride experience. This is German engineering at its finest, providing an amazingly intuitive, responsive feel on a bike so lightweight and agile that we actually find ourselves just switching off the electric-assist for a good part of the ride. Of course when a hill rears its head we're not too proud to touch a button and save ourselves some struggle.
These bikes use Bosch automotive-level seals, gears and bearings in the motor, then draw on the Bosch power tools division to supply a lightweight, compact high-capacity battery for power. The Torque, speed and cadence sensors sample 1000 times a second to constantly adjust the assist level to keep the motor in line with rider input.
A full charge will send you down the road for up to about 75 miles, depending on terrain, speed, and rider input. Charge up the battery on the bike in about 3 1/2 hours. Expect to keep this bike for a long time, as a well cared-for battery will last for over a thousand complete charge cycles.
We have a number of Bosch powered E-bikes for the street or trail in stock and encourage everyone who is looking for a completely revolutionary experience to come by and take one for an unforgettable test ride.
