Possibly the most anticipated bike we've had at Piccadilly Cycles in 2016 is the Faraday Cortland. Faraday finished their initial production run of 300 of these step-through versions of the already-popular Porteur and began shipping Cortlands this fall to shops and individuals who had reserved a few from the limited allocation.
For those of you who have never ridden a Faraday, the experience is unlike any you've had on any bike - and unlike any you've had on any electric bike. Beneath that elegant exterior lies an ultra-smooth, suprisingly powerful, nearly silent drive system which pulls you up the steepest hills our town can deal out. This is also a bike that performs gracefully as a traditional bike when switched off, so go ahead and extend the range of a single charge in the best way possible: pedal some more!
The original Porteur had options of classic white and British racing green. The new Cortland continues with the classic white look and adds a highly distinctive Stingray blue (you have to see it in person to really appreciate it).
Next to arrive, in November, we will see the Cortland S, which like its sibling the Porteur S comes with painted metal fenders, an 8-speed drivetrain with a chain & derailleur, cork grips and a price tag of $2,499.
