Piccadilly Cycles is happy to announce that it is joining the "opt outside" movement started by REI last November. The concept is simple: on the day after Thanksgiving, don't go shopping, get outside. We're 100% on board with this new tradition, one which encourages health, togetherness, and enjoyment of the outdoors.
Jerry Stritzke, President & CEO of REI describes his company's adoption of the once-revolutionary concept of being closed on what is generally considered to be the single biggest shopping day of the year. He writes, "The idea of choosing to #OptOutside on Black Friday might seem radical to those who do not know the heart of the co-op, but I believe it is an ideal way to make a statement about our values. It’s also an invitation to share those values and I am deeply grateful to all the people at REI who keep the co-op a lively, happy, and welcoming place each day."
At Piccadilly Cycles, one of our most important jobs is to inspire our customers to choose a path towards greater health and greater enjoyment of life by integrating a bicycle into their everyday life. Joining the #optoutside movement feels like yet another way we can help to provide that inspiration. We wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving and look forward to seeing you outside on November 25th.
