More than half a year has passed since Ashland photojournalist Christopher Briscoe and his son, Quincy, completed their 2,500+ mile bike journey from Santa Monica, CA to Chicago via historic route 66. Christopher rode a Bosch-equipped electric assist bike; Quincy rode his traditional touring bike. Now, in the midst of winter here in the Rogue Valley, Christopher has returned to present the complete story of this epic ride, and to start the rest of us dreaming of adventures we might undertake in the coming year.
Briscoe will share their personal stories and his always-remarkable photographs of the trip, in which majestic beauty and quirky characters became regular features of their daily routine. This Community Lecture takes place Wednesday, February 15, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Camelot Theater, 101 Talent Avenue, in Talent. It is hosted by The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) of Southern Oregon University.
Christopher Briscoe’s award-winning photography reveals stories in people’s faces. His work has appeared on Oprah, Larry King Live and Entertainment Tonight, as well as in The London Times, USA Today, People Magazine, Time Magazine and Paris Match.
The event is free but space is limited and reservations are required. Register here now. For more information about the OLLI Community Lecture Series, call 541-552-6048 or visit: inside.sou.edu/olli.
