Choose the right size bike for your child

Wheel size and age are often used as methods to select a child's bike, but this is not accurate; it's important to measure the inseam of the child's legs. This will ensure that your child is able to place their feet on the ground safely and comfortably.



Step 1

Measure your child.





Have your child stand against a wall, wearing socks.

Place a small book between their legs, as high as is comfortable.

Ask the child to move away and measure carefully from the floor to the top of the book. See chart below for metric/US measurement equivalents.

Step 2

Run the numbers.
