Adventure Rides

These bike rides require some stamina and a willingness to venture off the beaten path. Be sure to bring a snack!

Jacksonville (Least Hilly)
via South Stage

Out and back to Jacksonville via Bear Creek Greenway and South Stage Road, with as few hills as possible and only moderate traffic.

Jacksonville (Very Hilly)
via Poorman's

Get to Jacksonville with a couple of extra climbing challenges thrown in, enjoy the twisty descent into town, then return via Carpenter Hill Road just to add to the challenge.

Jacksonville (Some Hills)
via Pioneer & Dark Hollow

Get to Jacksonville the less-traveled way on rural back roads , then take the (mostly) flat way back.

Short Ride Through
Emigrant Lake

Ride through the lake! There's no water!

Little Bit of Road,
Little Bit of Gravel

A fairly mellow mostly road ride that ends on the bike path.

Road: Ashland to Jacksonville
Hilly Loop

From Piccadilly Cycles - head to the Bear Creek Greenway and ride north to Talent, making a left on Suncrest Road. Ride west, crossing HWY 99N to Colver Road. Follow the cue sheet, tackling the climbs on Dark Hollow and W Griffin Creek Roads, and arriving in Jacksonville from the southwest. Stop for a coffee and some food, or continue the ride east out of town on S Stage Road. Enjoy the Carpenter Hill descent on the way back towards Talent, and follow the cue sheet back to the Bear Creek Greenway. This is a great ride with some good climbing and descending with Jacksonville in the middle!

MTB: Caterpillar to Alice & BTI

Pedal up to the Jabberwocky trailhead from Piccadilly Cycles, climbing next to Lithia Park and continuing up to the Ashland Loop Road. At the Jabberwocky trailhead, cross the road and go downhill (north) on Caterpillar Trail to White Rabbit parking area. Cross the parking area to Alice in Wonderland Trail and finish on BTI Trail. This is an Ashland classic and one of the shortest (and really fun!) rides in the watershed with a high smile-to-mile ratio. (intermediate/advanced skill-level)

Gravel: Lithia Loop

Tour the west and east sides of the Ashland Creek watershed. Up, around, and down. Finishing on Tolman Creek Road and the Central Bike Path, this is a wonderful ride with some fantastic views (and a pretty big day on the bike). Be on the lookout for wildlife!

MTB: Upper & Lower
Missing Links

Pedal up to the Upper Missing Links trailhead from Piccadilly Cycles, climbing next to Lithia Park and continuing up to the Ashland Loop Road. At Four Corners, take the 200 Road (the road directly uphill with the big yellow gate, not the 2060 Road to the right). Climb for about 2 miles to the sign for Bull Gap Trail on the left. Take this trail a few hundred yards to the Upper Missing Links Trailhead. Come down Upper & Lower Missing Links Trails to Catwalk Trail and across Toothpick to Lamb Saddle. At the saddle, take Caterpillar Trail to Lizard and Jabberwocky, finishing at the top of Lithia Park. This ride is awesome! You can also start descending at Lower Missing Links, which shaves off about 500' of climbing. (intermediate/advanced skill-level)

MTB: East Side Extravaganza

The whole east side of the Ashland Creek watershed. Pedal up to Bull Gap from Piccadilly Cycles, climbing next to Lithia Park and continuing up to the Ashland Loop Road. At Four Corners, take the 200 Road (the road directly uphill with the big yellow gate, not the 2060 Road to the right). Climb for about 3.5 miles to Bull Gap. At the gap, take Lower Bull Gap Trail to Upper & Lower Missing Links trails. Once back at Four Corners, take Catwalk Trail down and Toothpick Trail across to Lamb Saddle. At the saddle, take Caterpillar Trail to Lizard, and finish on Jabberwocky Trail. This is a big ride with more than 4000' of climbing and 10 miles of singletrack descending! (intermediate/advanced skill-level)
